General Paraeducator Cert

The General Paraeducator Certificate is earned by a paraeducator who completes ten days (70 clock hours) of professional development training in addition to the Fundamental Course of Study (FCS). If funding is provided by the legislature, districts have a responsibility to ensure all paraeducators receive his training.

There is not a specific curriculum required to receive this certificate. Any training that supports the development of the paraeducators instructional skills will apply. If you're not sure if a course offered by NEWESD 101 is applicable to the work of a paraeducator, please reach out to the instructor.

Additional information and guidance can be found at the Professional Educator Standards Board (PESB) website: https://www.pesb.wa.gov/paraeducator-certificate-program/certificate-options/
