Jim Kowalkowski and Senator Lisa WellmanThree state legislators visited NEWESD on Thursday, June 14, meeting with local superintendents to discuss emerging issues in public education.

The three – Sen. Andy Billig, Spokane; Sen. Lisa Wellman, Mercer Island; and Rep. Laurie Dolan, Olympia – engaged in a roundtable discussion covering a broad range of topics including school safety and youth mental health, early learning programs, broadband access and career-connected learning.

For Sen. She has met with school leaders in every region, sharing ideas and strategies to meet expanding needs in Washington classrooms.

Sen. Billig represents Spokane's 3rd Legislative District. Rep. Dolan is a former Spokane resident and retired Spokane educator who represents the 22nd District.
