National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

On Saturday, October 26, NEWESD 101’s Community Coalitions (part of Washington’s Community Prevention & Wellness Initiative) will collaborate with local law enforcement, school and community-based partners to host Medication Take Back events in Airway Heights, Otis Orchards, Colfax, and Northwest and Northeast Spokane in recognition of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

Take Back Day offers free and anonymous disposal of unneeded medications at close to 5,000 local drop-off locations nationwide.

Community members can drop off expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs, as well as vaping devices (without batteries) and cartridges from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at numerous locations through our northeast Washington including:

• Shadle Coalition and West Spokane Wellness Partnership: Salem Lutheran Church (1428 W. Broadway St. Spokane, WA. 99201).

• TALK 2 Healthy Choices Coalition: Airway Heights Walmart Super Center (1221 S. Hayford Road, Spokane, WA 99224).

• North East Support Team (NEST) Coalition: NorthEast Community Center Parking Lot (4001 N. Cook St Spokane, WA 99207).

• Substance Use Prevention Education & Resources (S.U.P.E.R) Colfax Coalition: Colfax Public Library 102 S. Main St. Colfax, WA, 99111).

• East Valley Community Coalition: Otis Orchards Library (22324 E. Wellesley Ave., Otis Orchards, WA 99027).
