The football field at Davenport High School is a 24-hour beehive of activity. The school is the incident command center for firefighters battling the Angel Creek wildfire, eight miles northeast of Davenport.
The fire, which began August 2, has covered more than 5,000 acres, according to the Northwest Interagency Coordination Center. More than 500 people are assigned to the firefighting effort.
