Ferris High School student Anna Armstrong became the first Eastern Washington Regional Science & Engineering Fair (EWRSEF) finalist to win a category award at the Regeneron international fair last month. Armstrong earned a fourth place Environmental Engineering award of $500 while competing against more than 1,000 students from around the world.
Thirty-six awards were presented to students representing Central Valley, Ferris, Mead, North Central, Odessa and Rogers high schools during the 2022 Washington State Science & Engineering Fair.

Supported by the Northeast Washington Educational Council, Spokane Teachers Credit Union, Washington State University Health Sciences Spokane and Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories in Pullman, the EWRSEF encourages innovative research and STEM education. Students in grades 6-12 residing in Spokane, Whitman, Lincoln, Stevens, Pend Oreille and Ferry counties are eligible to participate.
