Did you know that 80% of weather-related slips and falls occur in parking lots and on sidewalks?

Stay safe this winter with these tips, courtesy of NEWESD 101's Risk Manager, Don Ebert:

Wear proper footwear: Choose shoes or boots with soft rubber or neoprene composite soles—avoid plastic or leather soles. Slip-on ice cleats are a great option too!

Spot the danger zones: Watch out for icy areas like shaded spots, roof drainage zones, and uneven pavement.

Move safely: Slow down, take small steps, keep your hands free for balance, and use handrails when possible.

Step safely from your car: Use three points of contact (both feet and one hand) when entering or exiting vehicles.

Don’t forget: If you see a hazard, report it or take action by spreading de-icer, wiping up water, or placing a warning sign!
