The School Nurse Organization of Washington (SNOW) has named Mick Miller as the 2022 Non-Nurse School Administrator of the Year.

Miller, who holds 39 years of experience as a public education administrator, has served as Assistant Superintendent of NEWESD 101’s Student Learning and Support Services since 2014 overseeing more than 13 ESD programs including the Center for School Nurse Services.

His efforts to champion the expansion of school nurse services (on a statewide level) recently resulted in legislative funding for NEWESD 101 to provide additional school nursing hours and intensive mentoring in 51 of northeast Washington districts for the first time in 22 years.
“He has created many opportunities to provide clear, effective communication with various legislators and school leaders across Washington state, regarding the critical role of nurses,” says Julie Schultz, director of NEWESD 101’s School Nurse Corps (pictured left).

“His enthusiasm, advocacy and energy are unwavering in promoting the need for more school nurses to help ensure a safe environment for students and staff.”
