In recognition of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, NEWESD 101's Community Coalition Coordinators recently partnered with local law enforcement, schools and community organizations to provide safe and anonymous medication disposal services at five locations across northeast Washington. Thanks to their dedication, 112 pounds of unused, expired and unwanted prescription medications were successfully collected. This important effort not only reduces the risk of misuse, but also helps protect our environment from contamination.

While serving communities across NEWESD 101’s region — including Cheney/Airway Heights, East Valley, Northeast Spokane, Shadle Park, West Spokane, Colfax, Wilbur-Creston and Reardan-Edwall — NEWESD 101's Community Coalitions empower families and youth to make healthy, positive choices. Through education and substance abuse prevention strategies, they address the root causes of problem behaviors and strengthen protective factors to foster safe and drug-free communities!
