YouthBuild
There are millions of low-income 16 - 24-year-olds in the United States who are neither in school nor employed. All are in urgent need of pathways to jobs, education, entrepreneurship, and other opportunities leading to productive and contributing livelihoods. YouthBuild programs provide those pathways by unleashing the positive energy of low-income youth to rebuild their communities and their lives, breaking the cycle of poverty with a commitment to work, education, community, and family. This movement has been created by YouthBuild USA, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that works in the United States and all across the world. At YouthBuild programs, low-income youth learn construction skills through building affordable housing for homeless and low-income people in their neighborhoods and other community assets such as schools, playgrounds, and community centers. For unemployed youth who left high school without a diploma, YouthBuild is an opportunity to reclaim their educations, gain the skills they need for employment, and become leaders in their community.*
The Spokane Service Team works to instill confidence, empowerment, and useful skills in our disadvantaged and at-risk youth in Spokane. Together, they not only better our community, but they create meaningful relationships and networks that contribute to their success in their personal lives, High School Equivalency, and beyond.
