IMPORTANT: Please DO NOT arrive late for your appointment
Fingerprinting is mandatory for anyone with regular, unsupervised access to children, including those applying for certificates and those working in certified or classified positions. NEWESD 101 offers digital fingerprinting services, which use inkless technology to create high-quality prints. These digital prints are sent directly to the Washington State Patrol. After further review by the FBI, the fingerprint records are kept by the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) in Olympia. You will not receive a copy of your fingerprint results. These results are sent directly to your employer, college, or university program for review.
If you are being printed for contracted services through third-party companies, you will need to be attached to a district. Check with your employer about which district you will need to reference.
Fingerprinting services are done, by appointment only, on Wednesday of each week. Times may vary and are subject to change.

Due to this technology we ask that you not schedule an appointment if you are suffering from cuts, wounds, or injuries to your hands or are experiencing general ill health.
To request a copy of your background check results please visit OPSI's website.
Your fingerprints may need to be resubmitted due to poor print quality thus requiring a reprint and submission to WSP.
For those customers who are seeking certification or recertification, you will receive a notice from OSPI stating that your prints will need to be resubmitted. School district or college program customers, your district/school will be notified of the need for resubmission and thus notify you.

FBI CJIS Division
Attention: Correspondence Group

Your written request to the FBI should clearly identify the information that you feel is inaccurate or incomplete and should include copies of any available proof or documents that support your claim. The correspondence group will contact appropriate agencies to try to verify or correct challenged entries for you. When the FBI receives official communication from the agency with jurisdiction over the matter, the FBI will make appropriate changes and notify you of the outcome. (This process is described in 28 C.F.R. § 16.34.)
The results of the WSP and FBI background check are forwarded to OSPI and are entered into an online Educational Data System (EDS). All school districts, educational service districts, private schools, BIA-funded Native American schools, colleges, and universities in Washington state have access to the EDS and are able to view the results of the WSP and FBI background record check.
Criminal history conviction information reported from the WSP and/or FBI of all school district, private schools and educational service district (ESD) employees is returned to the appropriate agency after the criminal history report is processed by OSPI.
