Attendance and Reengagement

NEWESD 101’s Attendance & Reengagement Program aims to reduce chronic absenteeism and help reconnect students and families who have become disconnected from school. Exacerbated by the pandemic, students and families have become disengaged from their education at unprecedented levels. To help school districts address this, we provide technical assistance and capacity building to establish and strengthen attendance and engagement systems that will keep students engaged long term. For targeted school districts, our reengagement specialists provide Tier 3 level supports to work with students experiencing severe chronic absence or who have been withdrawn from school.

Join the 2023 Attendance Awareness Campaign!

This targeted communication campaign is designed to support school districts and building administrators to increase awareness of the value of regular attendance for students and families in your district. Check out the editable Canva templates and social media messages prepared by the ESD network and OSPI here under “2022 Washington Attendance Awareness Toolkit”. You can also access ready-to-post content from the Attendance Works Awareness Campaign 2023. We want all students in our region to know that we are thrilled to see them at school and we miss them when they’re gone!

To schedule a meeting to talk about how to launch a campaign in your school or district, or how to create an attendance awareness communication plan for your district or building, email Allyson Fritz, Attendance & Reengagement Coordinator, at [email protected].
