Science Kit Descriptions
The descriptions and titles reflect the following curricula offered through the kit cooperative:
- K-5 Building Blocks of Science (BBS)
BBS kits have appeared on adoption lists for science curriculum for multiple states and offer rich, ADA-compliant, digital resources including Spanish versions of the teacher’s guide, student books, and student worksheets. The kits are designed to support teachers and engage all students. The curricula is a hands-on, phenoma-based program for grades K-5. Students work collaboratively with peers, conduct hands-on investigations, collect and analyze data, record notes, and share observations
- OpenSciEd for K-5
The OpenSci Ed (OSE) units for elementary grades K-5 are expected to be released 1 unit every six months leading up to the 2026/2027 school year. They are expected to be released starting in the summer/fall 2024. Information regarding titles, pricing, etc. will be communicated to our district when the information becomes available from the publisher.
- 1-5 Engineering is Elementary (EiE)
In addition to introducing students to the excitement of hands-on STEM, our units model critical science and engineering practices and infuse 21st century skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, communication, creativity, flexibility, and persistence.
- 6-8 Carolina STC-MS
Engage students in authentic science, technology, engineering, and math experiences. These hands-on, practice-based units are centered around specific bundles of NGSS Performance Standards that reseult in coherent storylines that will engage your middle school students in the
investigation of exciting phenomena.
- OpenSciEd for MS
OpenSciEd’s world-class, NGSS-aligned instructional materials are designed for how students learn science best. Our high-quality, adaptable, full-course curriculum supports equitable science learning through phenomena-based, three-dimensional units that prioritize understanding and unbiased sensemaking.
- OpenSciEd for HS
