This week, 128 regional students earned their high school equivalency and an additional 19 graduated from work training programs in healthcare, information technology, manufacturing and transportation as the Next Generation Zone’s class of 2022.

A celebration – hosted in partnership with the Spokane Workforce Council, Northeast Washington Educational Service District (NEWESD) 101 Open Doors Youth Reengagement program, Spokane County United Way, Career Path Services and Goodwill of the Inland Northwest – was held in Gonzaga University’s Hemmingson Center.

The Next Generation Zone  – a one-stop center that has offered education, career, community resources and employment to young adults ages 16-24 in Spokane County since 2007  – completed the school year with a total enrollment of 656. Housed within the Next Generation Zone, NEWESD 101’s Open Doors Youth Reengagement helps young adults acquire their High School Equivalency via in-person and virtual learning environments as well as supporting students with career exploration and building college and work readiness skills.
